Antique Bluebill Decoy, Original Paint, Dodge Decoy Company, Detroit, 1895
This is an antique drake bluebill (scaup) decoy by Jasper Dodge, c. Strong original paint with wear to edges of bill, tail and breast. Professionally restored neck filler and tail chip by Ray Schalk. Branded "W" on the bottom, with some paint flaking in that area. This was made during the Detroit Canoe and Oar Works period of the J.
Original "buggy" glass eyes, typical of Dodge decoys from this period. See page 221 of Detroit Decoy Dynasty by Dodge and Sharp for a photo of a similar bluebill in lesser condition.
