Antique (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia) Canadian Duck Decoy, Merganser Drake
It appears to be unsigned with a flat bottom that has a lead square plate attached with leather lanyard strap (added at some point in the 20th century or replaced with a modern one) for a rig line indicating it is a true working duck decoy. The form and style is looks great for an antique hand carved decoy. It is in excellent condition for age with some minor imperfections and areas of wear from usage appropriate to age. Please see all photos and make offers accordingly. I took the photos at sunset and it was getting dark so the camera makes it appear more yellowish then it really is.
I have included a photo from the indoor studio which is the first and last picture to show the true accurate colors of the decoy so please review ALL photos, thanks. This decoy measures roughly 16 3/4" long, the body is 6 1/4" tall, and it is about 5 1/2 wide. A very unusual styled high quality decoy and a extraordinary piece of early American Folk Art, a great decoy for any collection.
