Antique wooden drake bluebill decoy, handmade. Hand carved solid cedar, bluebill decoy, circa approximately 1920. Old hunter in use paint and maybe repaint. Original large yellow glass eyes. This decoy was used on the bay of Green Bay off of Pensaukee, WI.Handmade by Hank O'Toole. It appears to be very old paint, possible some repaint by Hank. 14" long from tip of bill to tip of tail; 6 1/2" wide. Many of the ole bay men liked to paint their decoys dark colors and they made them large and wide for use in heavy, rough waters. This decoy was used off Pecor Point, north of the Pensaukee River.
I've had it in my collection for almost 50 years. It was used during the duck hunting hey days - when the bay would be black with ducks coming down by the thousands. The item "Antique wooden drake bluebill decoy, handmade" is in sale since Friday, June 21, 2019.
