Beautiful rounded body form and paddle tail with excellent feather painting. Base is carved WA (I think) and also has a brand of. The brand is for Nelson Price Whitaker. He was the owner of a substantial Iron Foundry at Principio Furnace in Cecil County Maryland.
Two holes on the base where the weight used to be and spaced further apart which makes me believe it was an early iron weight. A rare and historic brand! This decoy is in it's true state after being on the water for so many years, a hard find for a Graham! It hasn't been repainted recently, or had recent repairs to make it look better neck repair is old. A good old bird in real and true gunning condition.
This bird is rough, but you'd have a pretty hard time finding, or an impossible time finding, a Graham in true gunning condition with the NPW brand. Please see pictures for condition and contact me with any questions, I can not list every scuff scratch or dent, crack in neck, repair.
Drying cracks and wear to paint. Crack in neck, looks to have been reset and repaired with glue. Heavy wear, chewed tail, too much wear to list each flaw, review pictures.
