J. Evans McKinney Elkton Maryland (1913-2000) Canvasback Drake
For sale is a signed and dated (1942) gunning Canvasback drake decoy by Elkton Maryland carver J. He started making decoys around 1944 due too Will Heverin raised his prices. He then started to make his own by hand chopping them and somtime in the 1940's he began trading wood for turn bodies from Madison Mitchell of Havre de Grace Maryland.
Over time he did go back to hand chopping his decoys. The condition is good with original paint and some wear also the carvers signature and year 1942 is on the under side and it measures 16 1/4 long.
