Josef Wooster Drake Ruddy Duck Decoy Ashley, Ohio
This is a nice Ruddy duck drake in winter plumage carved by Josef Wooster of Ashley, Ohio carved in 1981. It measures about 11 long and is in excellent condition except for shelf wear on the tip of a few tail feathers (see photos) and it has rust stains and wear on the bottom. Where it looks like it sat on a metal shelf with some water for a bit. Joe always put a pebble in the hollowed area of his decoys. Joe was a master decoy carver and wildlife artist.

Joe's creative and distinctive style of carving has placed him among the most renowned national and international artists worldwide. His carvings have been displayed in numerous museums across the country including the Smithsonian Museum of Art and won many National decoy carving awards. 1934 died: November 10, 2008.
