North Carolina NC Outer Banks Brant Duck Decoy Ocrakoke
Offering for sale a vintage North Carolina Brant decoy from the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The form looks like those made in Ocracoke but I've not been able to identify the maker.
It is old, and as Jack Dudley states in his book, Mattamuskeet & Ocrakoke Waterfowl Heritage, these birds are rugged, heavy, and received hard use. The many years of salt, sun, and water give them a well worn look.The bird has a great folky look, rasp marks, and an old dry paint surface. As can be seen in my photos, it does have a number of checks in the body and a crack in the neck It measures 18 long and is offered with no reserve.
