Pair of 1915 Hand-carved Canvasback Hen & Drake Wood Duck Decoys
Offering a pair of wood Canvasback duck decoys hand-carved and painted in 1915 by George Tyrion of De Pere, Wisconsin. Tyrion was a market hunter who used these decoys on the Fox River south of Green Bay.
From the personal collection of Don Cole, avid waterfowl hunter and decoy enthusiast from Ellison Bay Wisconsin. The images provide the best information.
The glass eyes are not original. A seasoned collector noticed the eyes looked newer than 1915. I contacted Don Cole and he confirmed they were added about 25 years later by the owner. Each measures approximately 7" wide and 18" long. Please don't hesitate to write if you need more information or images.
