We were lucky enough to get four of these Pratt mammoth mallard decoys. We are offering ONE for sale. There is a lot to write about this decoy, and there is a lot to learn. This is the mammoth long neck model, 16.5 inches by 9 inches by about 6 inches. It has complete beak carving including nail carving. It is in original paint. This model is listed in the old Pratt catalogue as solid but these are drilled/plugged from the front which means either a special order or Pratt started offering them drilled at a date after the catalogue was issued.
These came with a factory weight which includes an extra lead backing strip under the weight (for extra ballast because of the mammoth size) and factory brass screws. The paint job is intricate also, with speculum feathering, nicely blended breast paint, and tail paint which is top quality. Note the small white inverted "V" in the center of the tail it is present on all four decoys. Supposedly, Pratt paint quality suffered toward the end of their production, which would mean these are early, but we will use a production guesstimate date of 1930. We will not relist this decoy if it does not sell. The item "Pratt mammoth mallard decoy original paint carved beak" is in sale since Thursday, May 30, 2019.
