Rare Antique Vintage Animal Trap Co Experimental Crow Decoy, Solid wood, glass eyes, 100% original paint! So little is known about this super-rare decoy that it gets only two sentences in Kenneth Trayer's landmark book, North American Factory Decoys, A Pictorial Identification and Reference Guide.
It reads When Animal Trap was acquiring companies in the late 1930s and early 1940s there was a great deal of experimentation being done to determine what products they would ultimately settle upon producing. Some of these transition decoys are shown here. The crow is pictured on page 44. The decoy measures 15 inches long.
It has several age checks, the largest being a crack on its right side. There are also smaller checks around the head and breast.
None detract from its unique character and rarity. Please look carefully at all 12 photos, which are part of the description.
