Set Of 6 Yellowlegs Decoys Carved By Dave Rhodes
A beautiful set of six Yellowlegs decoys carved by Dave Rhodes in 1984 for Basil Babcock. These birds were new (in 1984) and have never been displayed by my late brother-in-law. I mounted them on a single board, drilled with six mounting posts as seen in the picture. In a note from Dave Rhodes he mentions All but the feeder have a galvanized nail inserted through the head and down through the neck as reinforcement. The hole in the tail section is for a line to be used to carry them or store them hanging from a peg. You have one Feeder, one Preener, three Alert, and one in a Turned Head position. For your mantle or display case, these are beautiful by one of the great New Jersey carvers, now retired. The posts and base are included. The birds measure 10 1/2 inches in length, 3 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches thick. The photos show the beauty and detail very nicely. From the Basil Babcock Shore Bird Collection.
