Vintage Hen Bluebill Decoy pre 1950 by Sam Denny Clayton, New York
This is a old hen bluebill decoy by well known upstate New York carver Sam Denny (1874 -1953) from Clayton , NY. Really nice form and attitude (typical of upstate NY) to this pre 1950 working decoy in working repaint. This sweet little hen is hollow carved , nice scratch painting on back , oil paint , rigged , and signed (as pictured) on the bottom.
On the bottom of the decoys it says Sam Denny St. Maker plus Webber is written in script twice on the bottom = may be from a previous owner?
