There is no weight on the bottom as is typical of many other decoys. And maybe that is why a weight was not needed.
It appears to read Gary N. Crossman, however we have no idea whether he made this, signed it, owned it, or someone else put it there. Light scuffing and nicks on the bottom and sides make me think this decoy was used, stored, and moved around with other decoys. It has a small chip of paint missing on the tail end and there is a small separation where the head and neck are attached.
(see photo) This decoy was not used for the 26 years in which I had it. I have loved it, looked at it, and cherished it. Now it is time for it to go to a new home and someone else to do the same.
