World Famous Crisfield Carvers Lem Steve Ward 1948 Goose Decoy Signed Dated
Offered here for your consideration is a vintage full size goose decoy. It is carved by world famous Ward Brothers, Lem & Steve Ward of Crisfield, MD. It is signed and dated-see pictures.
It was a working decoy so it's not going to be perfect. The decoy was used for hunting and at one time had a weight on it. Again see pictures as it does have some rubs, bumps, scrapes, flaking paint, signs of age and all the normal things you'd find on a old working decoy. It is missing the weight which was probably removed so it would sit level. It is made of balsa word so it is not heavy.
A well-known local carver who does appraisals for the Ward Museum examined it. He assured me that it is the real deal. I will also entertain reasonable offers, but not ridiculous ones. Decoys carved, signed and dated by Lem and Steve Ward are hard to find and goose decoys are even rarer as they mostly carved a variety of duck decoys. The workmanship of their decoys is beautiful and highly desirable for the serious collector.The decoy can be seen if you'd like to make arrangements to stop by. I package all my items with care so that they will arrive safely.
