Antique vintage old wooden working New Jersey Birdsall/ Henry Grant goose decoy
This decoy is a Barnegat Bay style hollow body bird with a defined eye indentation and nice bill carving. Birdsall decoys were flatter on the bottom, more so than others from the Barnegat area.
Henry Grant and Birdsall decoys are very similar in style, except for the flatter bottoms. Comparing this goose to a Grant and looking at multiple photos, it looks more to be a work by Capt. Jesse Birdsall in old gunning repaint. Also notice the o and x stamped in the pad weight.There is old age cracks on the neck area, but neck and body are solid. Any additional info on this decoy would be welcomed. Width is 7" and height is 11.5".
