Ca 1880-1910 Shorebird Decoy Cape May, New Jersey
Listed is a shorebird from the 1st quarter of the last century. Paint looks to be mostly original with old working paint in spots. The bill is an old replacement. A shorebird collector reached out and suggested that the shorebird might be made by Doc Lummos from Cape May, NJ, as he held a number of his shorebirds. There is a tight neck check that can be seen in the photos.
It could also be an old repair as there is NO sign of any modern glue or adhesive. It really is a great looking bird. This should orebird comes with an iron, museum quality stand.
