Cigar Daisey Merganser at least 45 year old Decoy Chincoteague VA
This is a beautiful example of one of the most colorful and unique ducks in the wild. This really is a collectors piece. 16 inches from tip of bill to tip of tail and 5.5 inches wide. Note at the top of the head the wood sticking up. This is how he made this decoy using the wood securing the head and this is not a defect.
He could have sanded it down but as he explained it was more natural. Cigar got his nickname as an outlaw gunner who left cigar ashes and the feathers of the ducks he shot at the scene of the crime shooting way over his limit and a few illegal ones as well.... He is a legend hunter and decoy maker. Note i just added some pics of the Bill.
There are a ding or 2 see pics but not cracks. The curve on the top of the bill was carved and is not a crack as can be seen by the colors.
