Excellent Pair of Cliff Avann Bluebill Duck Decoys All Original Ontario Canada
A great example of Cliff Avann decoy carvings complete with great form/posture and his paint. In all original condition, this pair is very easy on the eyes with active head postures that look like they are alertly swimming.
A great pair to add to any collection as they are in excellent condition. All original and as shown.I have done my best to document this decoy through both the text above and the photographs. Unless the decoy is listed in 100% original paint, expect some old hunter touch-up. Almost every single decoy I have for sale was in fact a working decoy part of a larger rig and subject to typical gunning wear including rubs that were typically touched-up between hunting seasons as a way to pass the time during the off-season. Some of these decoys are more than 100 years old and over the course of many hunting seasons it is bound to happen. He carved decoys for more than 60 years and started carving out of necessity.Simply put, he started out carving to build his own decoy rig for hunting, but that later morphed into a business making decoys for other hunters.
