Absolutely gorgeous pair of flying blue-winged teal wall hanging, handcarved and painted by Casey Edwards in his antique/vintage style. As noted before, Casey's "flyers" are arguably the finest flying waterfowl woodcarvings available. Not everyone can hang Casey's free hanging flyers that hang from above, so Casey tries to accommodate those who can hang from the wall or the pedestal table/shelf style of displaying. Casey is very humble, yet wants to relay to you that this pair of flying teal is one of his best pieces ever.
"It just came together perfectly". The top drake has one wing-up and one down.The lower positioned hen has her wings cupped downward. Both of their heads and necks are curved and turned. Their tails are splayed and there feet are extended downward - all of this showing a taking off the water scene. There is carved and painted feather detail, and the hen is attached to the birch branch backing extending a little further outwards, giving this piece a more real, 3-D look. These teal are carved on all sides, even the backside!
The colorations in this piece turned out astonishing. The teal are life-size measuring 12" long, and 16" wing tip to wing tip.
