Fresh Air Dick Richard Janson carved Redwood Duck Decoy Calif Pintail 1930
Vintage "Fresh Air Dick Janson" Richard Janson Pintail Decoy circa 1930's. This duck was made well. The over all length is 15 1/2", height to head top 8".
Has some original paint and some repaint. The lead is still on this pin tail and it shows it's age and character. This piece is a great example of Fresh Air Dicks carving skill. This one has a turned head. The feathers and beak are delicately but sharply outline in the carve.
The eyes are original Fresh air Dick lived on Sonoma Creek. It is a true example of San Francisco bay decoy. Please look at all the photos as they represent the decoy well. I have taken both flash and non flash photos so that you can see the patina on the decoy.With the decline of ducks, sportsmen began using decoys to attract real birds. Janson supplemented his income as a carver of decoys. He made them out of redwood. He was very skillful, a real craftsman.
