GOLDENEYE DECOYS - MATCHED PAIR. TUCKERTON SCHOOL - TWO RIVERS EXHIBITION & COMPETITION.

Fresh from the 4th Annual Two Rivers Exhibition of Sporting Collectible Art and Competition held March 11th, 2017 in Rumson, NJ, where the drake placed 2nd in species, 2nd in the Diving Duck category and 3rd Best of Show in the Barnegat division while the hen took 1st in species and 1st in the Diving Duck category (they gave me the wrong ribbon, lol) and 2nd Best of Show in the Barnegat division.. This is a beautiful matched pair of full size Goldeneye decoys by Rick Brown, Brick Township, NJ.
They are hand carved from air-dried Jersey white cedar in the traditional Tuckerton School style with the clean, classic lines made famous by such New Jersey masters as Harry V. Shourds and Rowley Horner, superb stylized paint, hollow bodies, high quality glass eyes, lead pad weights and leather thongs. Each signed and dated decoy measures approximately 15 1/2 in length, 5 1/2 in width, 6 1/2 in height and bears his personal copper ID tag. Rick was the founder and owner of Barnegat Bay Decoys which he started on the old Wildfowler Decoy Company site in the 70s.Though the company closed its doors more than two decades ago, Rick continues to hand carve the competition quality decoys that have earned him hundreds of ribbons for more than a quarter of a century. His decoys are highly collectible and very much sought after. This is a beautiful life size pair and some of his finest work! The ribbons will be included with the decoys.
