This is a stunning half-size carving of a Wood Duck Drake by Marty Garrison. We are not familiar with the carver and have been unable, sadly, to find any information about him. But what a work of art he created with this little guy. Please look at the photos. They clearly show the individual carving of every feather and detail of the decoy.
Wing tips are carved near perfection, the whole decoy is near perfection! Painted by hand, it looks so life-like that it could flap its wings and zoom away. It is about half size, maybe smaller. It measures 8.5 inches from beak to tail, 4 inches tall, 3.25 inches wide. It weighs 7.6 ounces. We found it many years ago in an Utah consignment store and have taken very good care of it. The chip in the tail was present when we found it.Wood Ducks are uncommon in Utah, but we enjoyed this guy immensely and invite you to do the same.
