Mason Premier Blue Wing Teal Pair c. 1915 1920
Very nice hollow bodied Mason Premier Blue Wing Teal Pair. I can hear wood shavings in the drake likely from when the keel was being attached. They were clearly used (likely not long given their condition) and have since had their post market keels removed to become shelf decoys. I do believe that the paint has been restored given information out there on original paint.
The paint style matches exactly to that body style produced from around, but likely not before, 1915. This pair likely is closer to 1915 as they have more chest spotting than the BWT's from the final years of production.
The image of the rear underside with the brushed finished edge is the drake and the smooth edge is the hen. Designs up to 1915 had a finish on the underside of the drake identical to this where the later teens and early 20's had more blotted or cloudish brown to white undertail finish. The pictures are very high resolution and I did my best to cover every possible angle so that every detail & blemish on these birds can be easily seen and zoomed in on. I omitted the bottom of the hen decoy because they are nearly identical and with my 12 photo limit I felt it more critical to show other aspects of the birds.
