Vintage Auggie Janner Fish Spearing Decoy circa 1960
Auggie's decoys are few and far between and are seldom offered for sale. 4 1/2 silver shiner is very nice and is likely unused, despite a small tail chip. The decoy was given to Auggie's sister, Lillian Janner-Peltier just before Auggie passed in 1983.
It has been in the family then a private collection. See Hunting & Fishing Collectibles Magazine, Volume 2, #6 for a brief article on Auggie Janner. Included in the article are photos of two other small (3 1/2) Janner decoys. Also included is a metal trap tag that bears Mr.
Janners name and address in Mt Clemens, Michigan... This also has to be an extremely rare item!
