Vintage BRANDED Canvasback Duck Decoy PAIR Heinefield JOINER
Listed here is a pair of canvasbacks carved by August Heinefield of Rock Hall, Maryland. Heinefield is known as one of the true carving masters of Rock Hall and passed in 1952.
These decoys were repainted at a later date by Charlie Joiner of Chestertown, Maryland, another true carving master! The Hen is signed AND dated by Joiner!
Finding a Heinefield decoy, let alone a pair, is hard to find as he did not carve many!! Finding one with the ENIC brand is extremely rare! Branded on the base of the Hen is ENIC. This brand stands for Eastern Neck Island Club. This club was located not far from Rock Hall, near the Chester River and Chesapeake Bay, where the Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge is now. A beautiful pair touched by two of the most well known decoy "artists" on the Chesapeake. Approximate length tail to head 15. Please see pictures for condition and contact me with any questions, I can not list every scuff scratch or dent.
