Vintage Canvasback Duck Decoy, semi-hollow, keel, low head, no eyes
Here's a canvasback drake that, ever since I acquired it, I've thought might have had a longer neck. But there's no sign that it ever was longer. The shape of the body looks like decoys from the Thousand Islands and Toronto areas. Someone, whether it was the carver or a later owner, hollowed out the bottom on either side of the keel.
Then it was painted with a lovely shade of green. Measures 15 1/2 long and has no eyes, although earlier painted ones can be seen under the outer coat.
