VINTAGE CHARLES PERDEW ILLINOIS RIVER MALLARD DUCK DECOY PAIR CIRCA 1930. This is a rare and desirable Pair of Mallard duck decoys by Illinois most famous decoy carver Charles Perdew of Henry Illinois. They are in excellent structural condition with a nice old working repaint. There is a hairline crack in the neck of the drake.
Both decoys show very little wear. The tails and edges of the bills are sharp and crisp. The heads are straight and upright.
These are fresh out of an estate in the central Illinois River valley about 20 miles from Perdews hometown. No repairs, no damage, just an honest old pair of decoys right out of the burlap bag.
The original Perdew keel weights are attached. The original paint is visible in several areas and they may be able to be taken down to original paint.
These are a beautiful Pair of Mallard decoys by Illinois most famous decoy carver. They would make a wonderful addition to any collection. Swimming red breasted merganser from Cape Cod Circa 1900.
Relief wing carving and tack eyes. The head is forward In a swimming position.Old in use repaint with minor wear, lightly hit by shot, in-use repair to the lower part of the neck with filler added.
