Vintage D. W. (davey) Nichol Drake Goldeneye Duck Decoy Exc. Orig. Cond. Ontario

(Davey) Nichol of Smiths Falls, Ontario ca. It is in fine original paint and condition with very minor wear nearly undetectable rubs to the bill and tail, with some minor discoloring on the sides from use. Also a tiny rub on the right raised wing.

Clearly this decoy was very lightly used. It exhibits Nichols fine stamped feathering on the back and raised wings with a fluted tail. Nice coggling around the bill root. Note the crest carved into the crown of the head. It has nice glass eyes.

Original leather anchor strap and swing weight are still in tact. This is just a terrific, mid period example of this prolific Canadian makers work. While slightly different ages, this would make a very good pair when matched with the Goldeneye Hen we also have listed this week. Measures 14 long; 5-3/4 wide; and 5-1/2 tall.
