Vintage Duck Decoy Very Large Black Duck Charles Hart 1862 1960
North of Boston, in Gloucester, Mass, Charles Hart used a unique carving style of adding in wing carvings on to the backs and sides of his decoys. This is one of his best.
This decoy traveled thru two auctions over a 25 year period and that is how I got it. Not sure who the owners were. It is as I bought it. There is a line thru the mid bill and have shown it in the photos..... Not sure if it was a crack and if it was, it stops as if it never fully opened up.
Check out the bottom photo and then look at the under-the-bill you can see the line never effected the bill fully. Its a good way to check it out but I do not believe it ever opened. I have good head shots so you can see.
Hoping the photos show the details. Likely the best of all of his decoys. The back wing carving and tail carving are second to none that I have seen listed for sale.
