Vintage George Warin Drake Bluebill Duck Decoy Original Paint Fine Form Ontario
This decoy is in original paint that has darkened a bit with age. It does show wear from use where it should be with rubs to the bill, top of the head, end of tail and bottom edges. The paint is thin in some areas, particularly on the left side. Some of the feathering paint on the back is still visible. The bottom shows some chipping to the wood but, more important, carries several old St. Clair Flats Shooting Club member brands. There is one additional brand that is unintelligible.
Clearly this decoy was used for a long, long time. It retains its original German glass eyes and exhibits that classic Warin form with its thin, upswept bill. Original inletted lead ballast is also still in tact.
This is a really good bird by one of Canadas premier masters. Measures 14 long; 6 wide; and 5-1/2 tall. Please ask questions or for more pictures.
