RARE, VINTAGE RED HEAD HEN duck decoy carved and painted by MIKE PAVLOVICH MONROE, MI. SLIGHT hunting wear in original paint and glass eyes.
ORIGINAL tie lines and weight are still attached!!! This is part of his own personal hunting rig. He told me that he was hunting along the shores of Lake Erie and found a Ed Kellie decoy that was lying on the beach and decided that he too could carve his own decoys. " Ed one arm Kellie " (he only had one arm but still carved a wonderful decoy) also from MONROE, MI.Mike took the decoy home and used it as a pattern. As close as he could remember he made this decoy in the 1930's-40's. Usually hunting by sneak boat Mike didn't make many red head decoys because red heads are dumb and they will decoy to about anything. You will be hard pressed to fine a finer example from this maker.
