Vintage (stamped) Wildfowler Goose Decoy
This is a Vintage WILDFOWLER CANADA GOOSE that was made at the QUOGUE L. Wildfowler Decoy facility , and is so stamped. This decoy's body was made of Solid Heavy Density Balsa and has a hardwood head. The decoy measures 22" long by 9 1/2" wide by 9" high on top of a 3/4" high x 1 1/8 wide keel.
Carries the Wildfowler Original Paint and is in Near - Like - New Condition. Has some minor wear or rub to the head. This Wildfowler Goose is a true classic decoy in extremely good condition. See my other auctions for more DUCK & GOOSE DECOYS. This Goose is from the Pt.Pleasant factory, that is Charlie's paint. It is what is referred to as a "chiseled brand" decoy and was made in the Winter of 1961. When Charlie bought the factory and moved it from Quogue to Pt. Pleasant, he chiseled the word Quogue off of the brand and continued using it while he waited for the new brand.
It may indeed be Quogue parts but it was finished in Pt Pleasant. Gary, It's a transitional piece. May very well have thought it was Quogue, but that paint is all Pt. But the machine carved bill is another clue. Pt Pleasant never did that.
