VINTAGE WOOD HUNTING BLACK DUCK DECOY Richard & Marion Harris
"HARRIS WILD DUCK DECOYS" is a spin-off from Wildfowler Decoy Company of Old Saybrook, Connecticut Richard and Marion Harris both worked at the Old Saybrook factory for Owner Ted Mulliken When the factory was moved, they stayed and produced these fine gunning decoys from 1957 to 1975. Local hunters used the term " Altantic Costal Model" for the big magnum made out of balsa with white pine heads, flat bottom and narrow keel. Their son Bob estimated his parents made nearly 2000 of this type of decoy. They are 19" long(from tip of tail to tip of bill) and 8" wide The basic pattern are very similar to Wildfowler with thicker necks. Some of the changes in the paint are the margin between the face and the bill is a painted black line as well as the mandables and nail.
The body has a more detailed feather pattern, nicely done. This decoy is in very great condition and a good addition to any factory collection. See " American Factory Decoys" by Henery Fleckenstine jr.
