This is 1948 Ward brothers drake Bluebill (lesser Scaup) decoy. This decoy is solid with a tight neck joint, solid keel and solid tail. There are minor imperfections to the paint and the body from use as a gunning decoy. Some paint chipping at neck/ body joint. Great scratch paint and texture for the vermiculation on the back.
Signatures by Lem and Steve Ward are authentic and have been verified by the Ward museum in Salisbury, Maryland. This decoy has a 1975 repaint.
