Wildfowler Old Saybrook Wigeon Drake Decoy Stamped 1940
Very early Wildfowler wigeon decoy from Old Saybrook factory. Hollow pine construction with inset bottom board & rectangular inset head. Retains original keel and stamp.
My estimate this decoy is one of the very first inset bottom board models 1940. Retains very fine line carving around the bill like the 1939 models. Paint scheme is different on this one then other inset bottom boards i have seen, the speculums are larger and come farther down on the sides where later models the speculums are more up on the back. Regardless very unique wildfowler decoy & looks to be all worn original paint on the body (bill may have been touched up).
