Listed is a very nice example of a Cecil County canvasback made by Wm. Heverin in the early part of the last century. It is in what I believe to be a second coat of paint by Heverin, but could be original... Hard to tell because it is bone dry and was a gunning bird. You decide based on the photo's. Structurally, it is in EXCELLENT condition without any checks or cracks.
It is a rather small bird measuring 14 inches bill to tail. It is not unusual to find decoys made by Heverin in various sizes and patterns, most likely as a result of the wood he had on hand.
Any other reason, or choice will significantly slow down the return process.
